Bouquets to Art Returns to the Legion of Honor: A Centennial Celebration in Bloom
Every spring, the Bouquets to Art exhibition draws art and floral lovers alike to a captivating display of creativity and color.
Hosted by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, this beloved tradition invites leading floral designers to create stunning arrangements inspired by pieces in the permanent collection. Each bouquet serves as an interpretive response—sometimes literal, sometimes abstract—to the emotion, form, or story within the artwork it accompanies.
While the event is typically held at the de Young Museum, this year marked a special return to the Legion of Honor in celebration of its 100th anniversary. For the first time in about 20 years, Bouquets to Art graced the neoclassical galleries of the Legion, offering a unique and historic backdrop for this immersive art experience.

The juxtaposition of timeless European masterpieces and floral compositions felt particularly poetic inside the Legion’s historical building. The arrangements not only brought a sense of renewal and celebration to the museum’s centennial year, but also honored the continued dialogue between art and nature that has defined Bouquets to Art for decades.

As a photographer and creative, walking through the exhibition felt like witnessing two art forms in conversation—paint and petal, canvas and composition. It was a reminder of how inspiration moves across disciplines and how, even a century later, the Legion of Honor remains a living space for reinterpretation and creativity.
