A Meaningful Goodbye at The Bentley Nob Hill

Some sessions are about celebrating what’s ahead. Others are about honoring what’s been. This one was both.

After fifteen years of calling The Bentley Nob Hill home, this family wanted to pause and remember the life they had built in San Francisco before turning the page. Not in a grand or dramatic way—just honestly, together, in the place where so much of their story unfolded.

We began outside their building, where everyday life had played out for years. The kids were curious and full of energy, moving easily between laughter and quiet moments, while their parents held space for both the excitement of what’s next and the tenderness of what they were leaving behind. Nothing felt rushed. We let the moments unfold naturally.

From there, we made our way up to the rooftop. With the city stretching out behind them—the skyline, the light, the familiar rhythm of San Francisco—the session shifted into something quieter and more reflective. The views weren’t just beautiful; they were meaningful. This was the backdrop of countless memories, now holding one final chapter.

Throughout the session, my focus was on connection rather than perfection: the way hands found each other, the way the kids leaned in, the ease that comes from years of shared life. These are the moments that matter most—the ones that tell the story beneath the surface.

This wasn’t just a farewell to an apartment or a city. It was a way of honoring a season of life before stepping into the next one. I’m grateful to have been invited into that space, and to help preserve this chapter exactly as it felt.
